Our school offers three two-year
courses within the disciplines of painting, sculpture and
printmaking. There is also a one-year project-based course
called: Artistic Concept Development.
All courses are very popular both among our students and
for applicants. Göteborgs Konstskola is ranked as one
of Sweden's finest preparatory art schools and many of our
students have been accepted for studies at undergraduate
level (see the statistics). You are warmly welcome to give
us a visit or to make contact with our pupils.
At present there are 74 students at the school, 16 in each basic course
and 10 in Artistic Concept Development. Ages range between 18 and 30 years,
most have student grants, even though a number pay for their studies by
working evenings and weekends. There is an even balance between men and
women.
All basic courses are two years and all students follow this time schedule.
From basic training to independent work in one's own studio.
Second-year students and concept
developers have their own studios. All students have access
to the school both night and day - an exception is the
computer room that is closed after 1600 weekdays and at
weekends. Teachers work every day between 9.00 and 15.00.
Every year, the school makes a school journey - last year to Amsterdam
and earlier to Paris, Berlin and Venice. Göteborgs Konstskola has
exchange agreements with its sister-school, BTK in Berlin. Every year,
seven of our pupils change places with their German colleagues for a
two-week period. The school year is filled with a wide range of courses,
projects, and activities but there is still plenty of room for independent
work.
The school year is rounded off with a student exhibition and the handing
out of awards. Four talented students receive 10,000kr each.
